Early orthodontic treatment (Phase 1) can help lessen the treatment measures needed later on in your child's life. Phase 1 treatment includes custom appliances that help create space needed for permanent teeth to move in later. By age 6 or 7 we can predict future problems such as:
- Overcrowding
- Bite misalignment
- Palate concerns such as crossbite
Early intervention allows us to use growth to our advantage. By identifying possible jaw structure concerns while growth is still taking place, it can be more easily corrected and mean less invasive treatment down the road. Heath Pediatric believes in screening all patients by the age of seven, as recommended by the Amercian Association of Orthodontics (AAO).
